Text mining is defined as an artificial intelligence (AI) technology that uses natural language processing

The company that I work for does not utilize text and web mining, so I choose to research Amazon. Text mining is defined as “an artificial intelligence (AI) technology that uses natural language processing (NLP) to transform the free (unstructured) text in documents and databases into normalized, structured data suitable for analysis or to drive machine learning (ML) algorithms” (What is text mining, text analytics and natural language processing?, 2021). Amazon states that text mining has helped “reveal patterns and relationships in large volumes of textual content that are not visible to the naked eye, leading to new business opportunities and improvements in processes” (Wunnava, 2015). As well as helped save time and resources. Amazon successfully implemented text mining by using the information that is being collected and processed to predict future trends rather than react to past trends (Wunnava, 2015). Amazon is able to use tools such as RapidMiner. RapidMiner is able to “combine machine learning, text mining and visualization capabilities, organizations can analyze textual content quickly in a scalable and durable environment without the need for advanced programming skills” (Wunnava, 2015).

Web mining is defined as “the process of Data Mining techniques to automatically discover and extract information from Web documents and services. The main purpose of web mining is discovering useful information from the World-Wide Web and its usage patterns” (GeeksforGeeks, 2019). Web mining collects data through searches in order to predict a user’s behavior. Amazon benefits from web mining due to the fact that they are able to advertise for the products that the customer has been searching. Amazon has implemented web mining, which allows for their “customer representatives (to) have access to complete customer data and can analyze the problem and discuss as soon as get call from customer” (Zatari, 2015). This level of customer care leads to the customer feeling more relaxed and makes the customer more likely to come back and shop again. In addition, the use of the RapidMiner leads to Amazon being able to be on top of their game with knowledge about their customers.
