Since Linux is just a kernel, not a complete operating system, you need to take the kernel and combine it with other free software to make a complete package. This collection of software applications built on top of the Linux kernel is referred to as a distribution.

Directions: For this assignment, visit http://www.distrowatch.com and compile a list of four (4) from the top 50 popular (with respect to user downloads in the last six months) Linux/BSD distributions at the moment. Don’t just pick the top four, try to find four that are interesting to you. Which are Puppy, Red Hat, Gentoo and Slackware.

Write a two-page report in which you describe each of the four Linux/BSD distributions and provide one screenshot of each of the distributions. You may need to search the public web using a search engine like Google or Bing to find screenshots of systems with different Linux distributions installed. Cite any sources you use in APA format; this includes sources for any screenshots that are not your own.

Linux Distributions

Linux is such an important part in the computer word that now we have many other distributions that complement this great program that has evolved so much and is so important for just about the entire world. With that say; some the distributions that got my attention are: Puppy Linux, Red hat Linux, Gentoo Linux and Slackware.

Puppy Linux: Is a very unique Lynux distribution that is focus on the ease to use part for people not counting that is have a very small or minimum footprint on any system.
