Which theatrical time period or theatrical movement intrigues you the most?

Which theatrical time period or theatrical movement intrigues you the most? Provide reasoning on WHY you made this selection and how you would begin research in the future to explore your chosen period, playwright, and/or historical setting.

This is some of examples of my classmates responses:

1- The theatrical time period that intrigues me most would be Ancient Greece. This is because Greek drama was an enactment of rituals and forms from mythology. This is because I’m really interested in Greek mythology such as Medea and Oedipus. To further explore this period, I could look up famous playwrights during that period such as Sophocles and Euripides who wrote during this golden age.

2- The theatrical time period that interests me most is the Restoration and eighteen Century English theater. This time period sticks out to me the most because it made a lot of breakthroughs in the world of theater. It was the first time that actresses were allowed onstage and the plays themselves featured a lot of sexual content which had never been seen before. I also like how this time period focused a lot on the audience and the audience interaction seemed to play a huge role. If I were going to begin doing researching this time period, I would probably begin by getting a good background of the events surrounding the time period as well as which plays were written in this time period.
