Scope of practice for Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) is determined at the state level. In many states, CNMs may practice without supervision of a physician, while in others, physician oversight is required. Over the years, the topic of hospitals employing CNMs has been controversial. Concerns of liability for the facility, the CNM, supervising physicians, and compliance with scope of practice laws are all part of the equation. For this assignment, you will research the benefits and risks associated with a hospital employing CNMs for a Labor and Delivery unit. Prepare an executive summary, suitable for review by Herzing Hospital’s leadership team. Your executive summary should include a recommendation to either employ or not CNMs at Herzing Hospital. State is Georgia Three references. I cannot find references for liability for hospitals hiring CNMs in L&D units, or risks for CNMs to work in hospitals either. A concise summary of your research and analysis must accompany the recommendation. Statement of recommendation to employ or not employ CNMs. Summarize scope of practice for CNMs in your state Summarize liability associated with employing CNMs at Herzing Hospital (include facility, individual, and supervising physician liability – if applicable). Summarize evidence on benefits and risks of hospital-employed CNMs (patient outcomes, quality of care, risk management, etc.) Closing statement, reiteration of recommendation to employ or not employ CNMs at Herzing Hospital. Recommendation for employing CNMs at Herzing Hospital Statement of recommendation to employ or not employ CNMs. I understand that CNMs no longer have to practice under collaborative care with physicians as of 2022. They now require supervision, according to the American College of Nurse Midwives. What I am unclear about is that I have read some research stating that CNMs are allowed to do everything on an L&D unit in Georgia. Is this correct? Also, as far as liability associated with employing CNMs at the hospital, I can not find research on why it is not good for the hospital, CNM, or physician. I need to know what the liability would be and a reference for it. Also, all the research I have found says that in Georgia, CNMs still need to practice under a physician. However, on other homework sites that offer assistance, they claim that CNMs in Georgia do not need to be supervised. However, I cannot find true anywhere in my research. This scope of practice for CNMs in Georgia has exhausted me, My paper is late, and my Professor wants it ASAP.
