Think about the many structural and cultural forces that contribute to concentrated poverty among African American communities.  Some of them are mentioned in Wilson’s book.  Discuss one structural force and one cultural force among those listed below and explain how you think they contribute to a cycle of poverty.

Black men are constantly viewed as dangerous for a variety of reasons.  Discuss one of the many recent killings of black men and analyze the many responses to these killings by the black community, the police and others.  What structural and cultural forces are relevant to the specific situation that you chose to discuss?
