The Devaluation of Black Womanhood: Patriarchy and Its Effects
After reading the class lecture material, “Ain’t I A Woman” by bell hooks (Chpts 2 and 3), and the short video clips what were the main themes, topics, and/or questions addressed in this week’s material? In particular, what was the impact of negative stereotypes on the daily lives of Black women? And what were some examples of these stereotypes and their effects? And in what specific ways has Patriarchy affected the lives of Black women, and how has it been perpetuated by Black men in particular according to hooks?  What solutions does she propose if any in these chapters?  Add any questions or comments that were raised for you this week?

Your post needs to include supporting evidence from the class material, which means using specific quotes (at least 3 to 4) and reference specific authors or class material (powerpoint and video clips).

The discussion post should demonstrate critical thinking skills and should NOT be a summary of the class material, but demonstrate original thought and writing.
