Introduction

            The number of diabetics cases reported annually has increased rapidly. Over 442 million people are living with diabetes globally in the year 2016.  This has been a gradual increase from statistics in 2013 that showed that 321 million people were living with diabetes at the time. These figures are quite shocking and further statistics indicate that over 30 million youths are living with the lifestyle disease. Questions have been raised on the authenticity of this information since in the past; diabetes was considered a disease of the old (Palla, et al., 2010).
