1 .Peer-reviewed research elucidates that quantitative research defines as a means for testing objective theories and examining the relationship among variables that can be measured so that numbered data can be analyzed using statistical procedures. Academic research explains that scientifically trained pharmacists and clinicians may be more comfortable and familiar with the concept of quantitative rather than qualitative research. Studious research explains that qualitative research incorporates the voice of the participant. In qualitative research, this type of study tells us why people have feelings and thoughts that might affect how individuals respond to medical care and how therapeutic treatment and health care are administered. An essential item concerning qualitative research is that qualitative practitioners do not seek to generalize findings to a broader population. Qualitative research attempts to find examples of behavior, clarify the feelings and thoughts of study participants, and interpret experiences of the phenomenon of interest to find explanations for human behavior in each context (Austin & Sutton, 2014).
Academic research elucidates that the decision to utilize a specific form of research lies with the type of question a researcher wants to answer using research. The method of choosing a research method lies with the data which needs to be collected for the research and the practicality in collecting research data. Choosing a research type also depends on the results needed. When research does not require proof in numbers, a qualitative research method is used. When research involves digging through deep layers to gain specific results, qualitative research methodology is utilized. Academic research explains when a researcher needs empirical evidence or evidence acquired from inductive methods qualitative research is utilized. When a researcher is observational and uses deductive inferences, then quantitative research is utilized. When research needs numbers and statistical computation, quantitative research administers. When research requires finite accurate numerical statistical information and data, quantitative research dispenses. The difference between quantitative research and qualitative research lies in the presence of a hypothesis. Quantitative research demands a presence of a hypothesis that is identified before the research sets. Qualitative research does not include a hypothesis to start the process of research (Austin & Sutton, 2014).

One must understand that there are significant differences between qualitative research and quantitative research. (Bamham (2015), how quantitative research and qualitative research are conventionally contrasted with each other runs along familiar lines; the former is seen as offering \’hard,\’ \’factual\’ data, while the latter is depicted as softer, as providing more profound insight, but at the expense of being necessarily more \’interpretivism and \’subjective\’ in its approach.Qualitative research is one of the most convenient types of investigation because it does not operate with huge massive data and different statistical tools. This type of investigation research is other than quantitative because it focuses on collecting data in the field but does not directly investigate the analyzed subjects. The credibility or trustworthiness of qualitative research is rarely taught to students. Since it is easier to teach the reliability of quantitative research, college professors ensure that students understand this. \”As a result, novice researchers… have been inaccurately using quantitative criteria to ensure the trustworthiness of their qualitative research\” (Anney, 2014, p. 273). From this week\’s reading, I learn the power to consider both qualitative and quantitative approaches, as your research founding will be vital. 3 Hello Classmates,Coughlan et al., (2007) stated the research should not be taken at face value because not all research are the same. Some may not have the high standards although it is published. For this reason, critiquing an article is important to determine if it is credible and useful. The article by Barnett provided the information necessary to identify the components for a well written article. The title of the article was clear and specific. The abstract stated the research problem, sample of 77 adjunct faculty, methodology, and the findings but did not mention recommendations. The elements of the article were sequenced for easy understanding, although, headings should have been used identifying the topic themes and subtopics instead of numbers. When an article is a well written it will have all elements, e.g. purpose, research problem, literature review, theoretical framework, research question(s), sample, ethical considerations, methodology, data analysis, results, discussion, conclusion, and references. These are all important markers in addition to the abstract. Critiquing an article is not criticism but highlighting the strengths and weaknesses to determine if the research is credible and trustworthy (Coughlan et al., 2007).
4 Hi class,According to Coughlan et al. (2007) provided guidelines for critiquing a quantitative research study. As part of the elements influencing the believability of the research, there a couple of questions that can be asked to establish the believability of the study. Is the writing style well written, grammatically correct, concise and well organized? Barnett\’s article meets this criteria. Does the author\’s qualifications and job title indicate the researchers knowledge regarding the topic? He was cited 19 other times on related articles showing that his research was carefully reviewed, used and approved in peer reviewed articles. Is the title between 10 and 15 words long? The title is 10 words long clearly identifying for the reader th purpose of the study. Is the abstract a succinct overview of the research and purpose? The abstract does include the necessary information regarding the purpose of the study, sample size, method used and selection. The abstract did provide me, the reader, enough information for decision making as to whether the article is worth further reading or not.
