Perform an actual policy analysis

Perform an actual policy analysis

This Final Project is designed to allow you to perform an actual policy analysis. You are asked to select a social issue and demonstrate your ability to analyze and offer potential solutions to the issue. The project provides a structure to guide your work; however, it also provides you the opportunity to generate creative and original analyses and solutions for the issue you select.
Your Final Project, Policy Planning, consists of a 10- to 15-page policy planning paper, which is due in Week 10 of the course. You will select a social issue of interest, which might serve as a topic for your dissertation. (Note: Issues may come from any area of public policy concern (e.g., land management/infrastructure, criminal justice, public health, education, etc.).

Once you have selected your issue, you will develop a policy planning paper that includes:
An historical overview of the issue
An explanation of contemporary examples that bring the issue to the forefront of
the public policy arena (e.g., police use of force, vaccines, and distrust of
government officials)
A summary of the relevant stakeholders and their respective positions on the
issue
A summary of the relevant public officials who can/should be involved in the
policy process related to the issue
An explanation of tools that each stakeholder can use to advocate for their
respective interests
An explanation of possible obstacles faced by the various stakeholders in
advocating for their interest, and ways of overcoming those obstacles
An analysis of the challenges any newly adopted policies might face if
implemented, and what contingencies might be developed to ameliorate the unintended consequences of such challenges
The Final Project is a Major Assessment component for this course and provides you with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate your policy research and analysis skills. See the Final Project Rubric in the Course Information area for specific details.
This project should also demonstrate your skill in scholarly research and writing. It should include peer-reviewed sources (texts or articles) and avoid open-sourced websites, such as Wikipedia. In addition to following APA style format for in-text citations and Reference Lists, students should also use APA guidelines for English grammar
Length and Formatting Requirements:
Use the Walden-approved template for your Final Project paper available from the Walden University Writing Center, which can be found in the course Learning Resources.
Use the APA Course Paper Template (APA 7) for graduate courses available from the Walden University Writing Center, which can be found in the course Learning Resources.
Your complete project should be approximately 10–15 pages in length, not including reference and title pages.
Your Final Project must demonstrate both breadth and depth of knowledge and critical thinking appropriate to graduate-level scholarship. It must follow APA Publication Manual guidelines and be free of typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors.
