Never Let Me Go

In this essay, you will perform several tasks. First, you will create a definitional argument about “coming of age” as it is represented in the novel( “never let me go” by Kazuo Ishguro”): how does this novel define maturity? This will require a claim and reasoning. Second, make a claim about whether any of the three primary characters, Kathy, Tommy, or Ruth, achieve the novel’s definition of maturity. End your thesis by pointing to the significance of the novel’s definition of maturity: why is it important? What does it mean that these characters are able or unable to become mature?

Introduction paragraph: Provide your reader win an idea of what you will be discussing. Mention the title and author. Make sure you have all the claims and reasoning you need to set up a complete and coherent argument (see above).

Body Paragraph One: Start with a topic sentence that establishes a claim and reasoning that is specific to the text and to the entire paragraph to follow. Using at least 2 direct quotes and close read them, discuss either Tommy’s, Ruth’s, of Kathy’s “coming of age”

Body Paragraph two: Make a smooth transition and then make your case for the second character, including a claim and reasoning that is specific to the text and to the entire paragraph to follow. Provide at least 2 quotes and close read them.

Body paragraph three: Make a smooth transition and then make your case for the third character, including a claim and reasoning that is specific to the text and to the entire paragraph to follow. Provide at least 2 quotes and close read them.
