Research question
My research question is: Do the psychological and behavioral effects of untreated AUD cause an increased risk of comorbidity and mental illness?
Methodological approach
My methodological approach is a mixed-method approach utilizing qualitative as well as quantitative. However, a predominantly qualitative approach will be used to increase the awareness of the prevalence of comorbidity and how AUD impacts mental health.

The method of measurement for my research question will be ordinal. I originally choose nominal level because it is non-numeric and pertaining to names. Examples of nominal levels include gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. (Yegidis et al., 2017). Ordinal level includes all features of nominal level and also includes categories and ranks (Yegidis et al., 2017). This will be the best approach for my research because it includes sociodemographic variables however not the difference between the variables. The data collection method that best fits my research is client logs and observation. Client logs describe events experienced by the client, such as a journal of thoughts and behaviors regarding mental health issues (Yegidis et al., 2017). I would also use oral histories. Oral histories are written, audio or video records of people taking about their personal experiences of people talking about their personal experiences or life events from their perspective (Yegidis et al., 2017).
