You have been introduced to three important Middle English genres of the Middle Ages: lyric poetry (the formes fixes), romance (SGGK) and now drama (the Mystery and Morality plays). Now it’s time to show me what you have learned about Middle English literature (with both the readings and lectures).  Since these genres are important for the period, you are required to write about SGGK, plus one of the plays and lyrics of your choosing. As I requested in some of my gradebook comments to your papers, be rigorous, but also try to be personable (you may use the pronoun “I”). I want to hear your ideas, so no plot summaries unless it is absolutely necessary to contextualize a quote for analysis.
