There are no “right” or “wrong” answers for this paper. This is a thinking piece. I am, however, requiring that you do the following:
Spend about 3/4 of the paper synthesizing what you believe to be the main policy-related themes, or concerns in the statement and relate them to some of what you believe are the more applicable concepts from the Kingdon readings, such as the three streams – problem, political, and policy, agenda setting, policy alternatives, players inside and outside government, policy windows and coupling, etc. ; and
Spend about 1/4 of the paper intelligently providing your own substantive thoughts and opinions about Marijuana Legalization. This may mean you agree or disagree with the notion of medical marijuana or perhaps that you found the chapter a nice summary of earlier concepts or perhaps that the new case studies he mentions in Chapter 10 better illustrated for you what he was writing about in his earlier chapters. Whatever your own substantive thoughts are about Kingdon’s Chapter 10 make sure you expound on them enough to fill a paragraph; and
Write at the college level.
Since you only have a page to work with I am not expecting you to cover every concept we covered in Kingdon. Just pick a couple of the ones you think are most applicable and relate the statement to them.
