Research papers will be graded on completeness and overall depth and quality of the paper. Each paper must include an in-depth scientific literature review of the topic; and/or support/argue popular articles on herbs and plant-derived medicines; critical analysis of literature, and literature and provide a conclusion that relates directly to your stated objectives for each paper. You will be using the Internet to conduct the literature search and use as sources of information, but you must still read all the literature that you cite and be sure to cite all Internet sources appropriately. Your reference list must include traditional scientific journals and original scientific reference papers and/or reviews. All figures and tables (photographs, pictures, data from papers/the Internet, from others, from published literature must be cited under the figures and table and not only at the end of the paper.
The research papers must have the following components included: You must have a title to your paper and include your name! You need an abstract or summary (250 words or less), an introduction, methods sections, your results and discussion and finally your conclusion. You will include and cite references from where you obtained this information using in-text citations. You will list the citation by author(s) and year at the end of the appropriate sentence(s). You will not provide citation by a number at the end of the sentences or paragraphs. You will also cite the URL or source of all photographs, figure and tables used in your paper as a caption or footnote when you present that information and not simply at the end of your paper. All figures, tables, photos, data, and information included from another person’s work must be cited! All citations must be full (all authors, complete title, where it is published, and year). Your complete list of citations or references should be in the bibliography at the end of your paper, after your conclusion. Then afterwards, as an appendix, you must show how you conducted your database search and list the specific databases used. This is part of the grade. Any parts missing from your paper will be deducted from your grade. Each of your papers will be automatically scanned to detect plagiarism in order to ensure it is your work and not already uploaded, published, or submitted.
