In this course, we have studied various expressions of American feminism, from the First to the Third Wave, and some aspects of international feminism in China and the Muslim World.             The terminology ‘feminist’ was coined in the late nineteenth century in France then the Netherlands in 1872, where it was referred to as feminisme or les féministes. It was then introduced to the United States and was popularly referenced in the wake of the 1960s women’s movement i.e. the beginning of wave two.
