Discuss the external factors that impact organizations when expanding globally. How could you use Porter’s 5-Factor Model to formulate strategies for global expansion?

This week we are continuing our examination of external factors. As we are conducting an External Factor Evaluation (EFE) I would like to start by discussing the types of factors that should be considered when developing an EFE matrix. David et al. (2020), stated that “an External Factor Evaluation (EFE) Matrix allows strategists to summarize and evaluate economic, social, cultural, demographic, environmental, political, governmental, legal, technological, and competitive information” (p.78). David et al. (2020) then went on to discuss two ways to identify the trends that make up these factors. First, you can use any one of a number of references provided in the textbook (or elsewhere) to find current trends. Second, you can use forecasting to identify potential future trends.
How do you think that these two types of trends can complement one another in an EFE?
