Ethics Memo
Ethics Scenario
This should be written as a memo towhoever is named in the scenario that you choose. For example, if you choose the ethics scenario on p. 139 of your textbook, the boss is listed at the bottom as Arthur W. Rose. If you choose one of the scenarios at the link provided below, write the memo to whoever is designated in your selection.
Your memo should be 1-2 typed pages in length. Since this is a memo, please single-space and double-space between paragraphs–and be sure to write at least one full page. Please follow the standards we have established with margins, fonts etc. You should use headings where appropriate.
In this memo, you should discuss an ethical dilemma. In your discussion, you should identify the problem and the major issues related to the problem. Then, decide and discuss what you see as the right thing as it relates to this issue. You do not have to do additional research for this memo, but you may if you wish to.
Grading Criteria
First and foremost, your letter must fulfill the basic task of your assignment.
Content—How carefully and thoroughly have you considered the issues in this dilemma? How thoughtfully have you laid out your opinion on the topic?
Format—How well have you followed all of the stylistic conventions of the memo format? (See p. 108 to 111 in the text.)
Organization—How clearly have you laid out your memo?
Style—Are you applying the writing skills we have been reading and learning about during this class? Are you demonstrating good sentence variety and structure, without awkward sentence structure, wordy constructions, etc? Have you chosen the appropriate tone?
Mechanics—Is your memo free of most grammar and punctuation errors?
