PART 1: Company Bio and Ethics Officer Job Description
The first part of the semester project will be selecting your company that you will write about. This is your choice but from past semesters I have some suggestions for you.
1) Choose an industry that interests you and you have some knowledge or want to learn about. This makes the semester project writing easier.
2) Remember the international requirement when creating your company. If your company is too small the international component will be difficult, if the company is too large, the operations policies will be difficult.
The company biography is what you will base the rest of the semester project. It should be 4-6 pages including a history of the company, the corporate structure, and locations, operations described in general so that I will understand your business.
The corporate ethics officers job description will be 1-2 pages describing the duties and how they fit into the corporate structure.
When you submit your paper I will provide feedback so you can improve the paper for inclusion in your semester final project.
Remember to use APA format!
PART 2: Written Policies for your operational departments
Depending on your industry, each of you will have different policies. Please write one document with section headings showing which department you are writing. (This will be as many pages as necessary)
Some common departments; Financial reporting to shareholders and stakeholders & International operations
Ethics policies for operations depending on your industry might include; Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, and, Human Resources.
TIP: A policy is not a procedure manual. You should “google” a policy and review it prior to writing your policies.
Final Semester Project
1) Make your edits and improvements from the two parts previously submitted and resubmit the corrected documents into one final paper.
2) Ethic’s Training Program – Create a PowerPoint, which is your annual review for existing employees and new employee training on your company’s ethics policy. Your Power Point presentation MUST have speaker’s notes to tell me what you will be saying while the slide is shown. Do not repeat what is shown on the slide, which makes for a boring training meeting.
