I believe the charge that immigrants flood the labor market and drive down wages in the United States is an unsubstantial statement with no researched findings to back it up. While immigrants are tempted to enter into another country such as the United States because of the attractive opportunities of employment and other liberties, they are not always welcomed by many Americans due to charge above (Abramitzky  & Boustan, 2017). For many Americans the notion of immigration causes them to think that immigrants will flood United States and take over the labor market leaving them without a job or scrambling for jobs. It has been expressed in the past that immigration lowers wages and that new arrivals fail to assimilate into US society (Abramitzky & Boustan, 2017). Immigrants often get paid almost 30% less than their employee counterparts as they are often known to work for wages under the table.

So the thought of immigration being a threat based on the numbers is a little over the top. The real threat comes when companies hire immigrants to work for less pay instead of hiring an American that has the same skill set who is qualified. This is unfair to both the immigrant and the American workers. The Bible states in Leviticus 19:33-34 (ESV), “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God”. At the end of the day immigrants should be treated the same way as regular workers if businesses decide to hire them. In the same respect I feel like American workers who qualify for and have the same level skill set or higher than an immigrant should receive the job based on those facts. Being able to pay an immigrant lower wages should not be the deciding factor.
