Based on the research done on disaster/crisis intervention, prepare a dynamic and interesting PowerPoint presentation as if you were going to present to mental healthcare colleagues with 8-10 slides with notes to script exactly what you will present. In addition to the 8-10 slides, include one slide for the title/introductory slide that outlines what you will cover and one slide for references.
This presentation will be a springboard for your final assignment in Topic 8, which will also incorporate postdisaster response to a disaster or crisis. Feedback from this assignment will be provided by your instructor to assist you in preparation for your final assignment. You may want to review and work on the final assignment ahead of time.
Your presentation should address the following:
Explain what a psychological first aid is.
Describe the marks of an excellent mental health professional who is involved in a crisis disaster.
Describe at least three important actions a mental health worker should do in a disaster intervention.
Explain how this information is applicable to your current or future work within the field of mental health and wellness on how you will work towards being prepared for an unexpected event.
Support your explanations with three to four scholarly resources and include in the reference slide for credibility.
PowerPoint Guidelines:
- Title slide and reference slide are not included in the slide count.
- Include 150 words of speaker notes below each content-related slide that represent what would be said if giving the presentation in person. Expand upon the information included in the slide and do not simply restate it.
- Please ensure the speaker notes include citations from references.
Include citations and four scholarly references at the end that may include resources provided along with one additional scholarly reference you find.
While APA style is not required for the PowerPoint presentation, solid academic writing is expected and in-text citations and references (last slide) should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide
