Scenario 2:
In the situation of a drug-addicted parent, there are times when child protective services removes the child from the home, and the grandparents agree to raise the child so that she/he is not taken into state custody. Are there specific criteria that would make this arrangement the logical solution? How would you help a grandparent decide whether raising the grandchild is a good choice for her/him?
Scenario 3:
In both situations, grandparents are raising their grandchildren. Are these situations the same? Why or why not? What are the unique considerations for each situation? How would you proceed in therapy with each of the families?
