What were the most compelling points from the interaction with your fellow students

What have you learned from others’ responses? I have been enlightened by my fellow classmates post. What’s good about reading other classmates post is they can shine a different light on a particular subject. Some classmates have experience in the field of criminal justice, as well as some are in law enforcement. They have experience in understanding more about each treatment program. For example; I did not know that when using the 12 step program you do not have to use the entire program step for step you have the option to use whatever part you wish. I also understand that some patients do not believe in a higher power that they could give their problem to, are help carry their burden of addiction.

What were the most compelling points from the interaction with your fellow students? The most compelling point is to understand others assessment of treatment used when treating individuals with substance abuse issues. As we all know there are many.

How did participating in this discussion help in your understanding of the Discussion Board task? There have been many times I would have to read other classmates post to understand an assignment fully, this helped broaden my understanding. This also helped me when I have gotten off track.

What approaches could have yielded additional valuable information in the students’ networking ? Some of us do not like to constructively criticize other classmates when you know that they have the wrong understanding of a given assignment. Maybe they did not listen to the live chat, are had the time to listen to the archive. So I am open for constructive criticism.

What is still unclear after the discussion with your classmates that needs to be clarified ? I am still having issues with the phrase once an alcoholic always an alcoholic, and because research show alcohol as a disease and that there is no cure. I like to use that theory only to help families, as well as society see or have a better perception on how to see someone that is addicted. With this understanding it allows individual to embrace the addict, which in my opinion is the best treatment plan of all. It has been stated that the opposite of addiction is connection.

The responses are in-debt and articulate. Engaging in team-learning helps students get other’s point of view as well as have some bearing in the lesson. I am impressed that the author used other’s posts and responses as reference points and learning opportunity. More so, I commend the student for appreciating constructive criticism………………………………..
