Week 1 Discussion: Diversity, Disparity, and Discrimination in Criminal Justice
Debates over racial and ethnic discrimination in the U.S. criminal justice system are often unproductive due to confusion over what is meant by discrimination. Public-facing officers in law enforcement, probation, or corrections must be able to identify racial and ethnic factors that can influence discrimination in policing different communities if they hope to work together to improve safety for everyone.
