As you have already learned, as a person ages, s/he can face a lot of difficulty – from decreased cognitive functioning, muscle weakening, change in role and status, as well as in other areas of life. It is important to also learn about how individuals can cope with this change of life and find support. For the discussion board, you will learn about and assess the various coping strategies for aging.

Decremental theories are aimed at looking at what is affecting the old people because of the losses they have experienced, (Martz and Livneh, 2007).
