Portfolios play a big role in an effective assessment system since it is a measure of a student’s progress over time. It is not comparable to the use of standardized tests method, which concentrates on the final product. A portfolios which a collection of a students work over time clearly show a student’s strength and challenges and allows teachers and parents to make recommendations for improvement.
