The issue of slavery brought about a heated debate in different states. This was after the territory of the Missouri territory applied for the statehood in the year 1818. During this time there were about eleven states that already allowed slavery and around 11 Free states that prohibited slavery.  It is a fact that most Missourians people supported slavery, however, most northern members of the congress from the northern felt that Missouri should be allowed to become a slave state.  One of the major concerns about allowing slavery was the issue of free labor. During this time many states required more laborers to work in their farms. Therefore abolishing slavery would mean losing laborers. Thus, many states disagreed…
