Community service refers to an activity done by an individual or groups of individuals as a donation of service for the people that live within that environment. Community service may not necessarily be voluntary service so it should not be confused with community service. It is an important activity and is performed for a host of different reasons like courts may demand it in lieu of, or in addition to, other criminal justice sanctions. At times, in lieu of military service, the government may encourage it as a part of citizenship requirements.

Civic service is slightly different from community service……………….
