Black Law Dictionary: DQ1 Black’s Law Dictionary defines the word law as “that which is laid down, ordained, or established… a body of rules of action or conduct prescribed by controlling authority, and having binding legal force.” But, what do you believe the purpose of law is? Further, what do you believe the purpose of criminal law is? Finally, is a civilized society possible without laws, and if so, what do you envision a society without laws to be like?
DQ2 Do you believe that the adversarial system is the best way to achieve “justice” in American criminal courts? Within the context of this question, and keeping the limits of the adversarial system in mind, how would you define “justice”? Further, what alternatives to the adversarial system can you envision? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each relative to our present system.
DQ3 Describe what is meant by reasonable doubt. How does it differ from preponderance of the evidence? Which do you believe is the better standard for use in criminal court? Why?

I do believe that the purpose of law is to maintain order in the society. Moreover, the other objective of law is protecting the people from criminals who engage in actions that do not bring equality in the society.
