Cystic fibrosis is a genetically inherited disease which is associated with build up of sticky and thick mucus which can damage many body parts such as the lungs, liver, pancreas, and intestines. This condition is hereditary in a recessive pattern which implies that both copies of genes in each cell have alterations (Patton & Thibodeau 2014).  The body of the victims produces mucus which is very thick and sticky which blocks the airways leading to adverse problems with breathing and bacterial infections in body organs such as the liver.
