Different approaches in art criticism
For this discussion, you will identify how specialists use different approaches in art criticism. For part one of this discussion please identify and describe, in your own words, which one of the 3 basic theories of art criticism resonates with you the most and list the reasons why. Please keep in mind that different theories might be applied more easily to different artists depending on what information is available about them.
For example, if you choose the Contextual Theory, (which considers art as a product of a culture and value system) you might think that where the artist is born and why kind of childhood he or she had might have strongly influenced the type of work that they have made in the past or are making today.
For part two of this discussion please locate a professional review of an artist’s work (via the internet) and identify which theory is used for critique.
