Interpretation of Van Eyck’s Arnolfini double portrait

Although both Koster and Sayre have made significant effort to interpret Van Eyck’s Arnolfini double portrait, I strongly agree with the interpretation given by Sayre. According to Sayre’s interpretation, the portrait by Van Eyck helps to show how people in the past used to engage to one another in contemporary interior. Sayre continues to explain that, Van used his painting to express is skills or capabilities in painting (Farlex, Inc., 2014). I believe this is true because the image or the painting reflects a high level of creativity.
