1. The 1930s, 1960s, and 2000s were full of turmoil, strife, and problems. Compare and Contrast the Programs and Leadership under Presidents Franklin Roosevelt- New Deal, Lyndon Johnson- Great Society, and Teddy Roosevelt- The Square Deal- Were these changes good or bad for democracy and America? Why?
2. Tom Brokaw wrote a book called the "Greatest Generation" about
the men and women of the 1930s and 1940s. Do you agree with his assertion that that
generation was America’s greatest generation? Do you think that today people
could sacrifice and suffer like that generation did?
3. President Franklin Roosevelt argued that there are Four Freedoms that all people are entitled to and that we should all defend not only here at home, but abroad. How well could we apply Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms when you consider the Korean, Vietnam, or Afghanistan/Persian Gulf II wars.
