There are several types of diagnostics. However, it is essential to indicate that they all adopt similar characteristics. One crucial characteristic of vaccines is that they should be specific and effective (Skolnik,2020). This is to means that they should be administered to work on a specific health issue. Another characteristic is that diagnostics should be affordable to enhance accessibility. They should be developed to offer quick and easy-to-interpret results. Other than these, vaccines should have easy to transport and store properties. Ultimately, they should be able to endure some environmental conditions, particularly heat. Like diagnostics, all vaccines should have similar ideal properties. For instance, they should be affordable, safe, and effective. Besides, vaccines should require few doses. Like diagnostics, vaccines should be easy to transport, store, and withstand heat (Skolnik, 2020). A crucial characteristic of vaccines is that they should confer lifelong immunity. From the health care perspective, there are several drugs with a different formulation. However, similar to diagnostics and vaccines, all drugs should have similar ideal characteristics. This is to means that drugs should be affordable, safe, and effective. They should also be able to endure heat, and their storage and transportation characteristics should be easy. Drugs are supposed to require a small dosage over a limited time. Drugs should also be manufactured in such a way that they are able to work on pathogens.

This is called the 10/90 research gap. According to Peres et al. (2019), it is the term adopted by the Global Forum for Health research to mean that less than 10% of global funding for research is spent on diseases that afflict more than 90% of the world\’population.

For now, I would focus on research more on the COVID-19 vaccines. Although the good news today is that there has been good progress in discovering COVID-19 vaccines, more research is needed to understand the hidden side effects of the vaccine, particularly for different aged patients.
