Sheri Parris was employed as a work crew member of Thomas and Thomas Contracting, a pipeline construction company. Parris was supervised by H.D. Thomas, son of the owner of the business. Parris became involved in an affair with H.D. Thomas, who was married. H.D.’s wife became aware of H.D.’s involvement with Parris, and complained to W.W. Thomas, the father of H.D. and the owner of the company. W.W. Thomas fired Sheri Parris, but did not fire or discipline H.D. Thomas. Sheri Parris filed suit against Thomas & ThomasContracting, alleging that her discharge was due to sex discrimination, and in violation of Title VII.
