The movie is the latest remake in a long line of remakes of the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)

Consider, for instance, the movie The Invasion (2007), this movie, if one was reading the movie very carefully, was addressing the issues people were having with many of the policies being put into place by the Bush Administration.  The statement made by Bush, “if you’re not with us, you’re against us”, while directed towards enemies beyond the American borders, was also read by many within the borders to not speak up against the government while doing everything to appear to tow the line.  The Invasion plays this way of thinking quite well with wanting to fool the aliens taking over people by playing along and never doing anything to stand out.
