Older adults may find their social network shrinking as spouses, friends, and peers pass away. They may long for an earlier time in their life or may feel irrelevant once they are out of the workforce or their kids are grown. They may experience feelings of sadness or anxiety about the future. At the same time, elderly/aging adults are living longer and can certainly maintain a healthy and fulfilling life, with the right clinical intervention if needed. Interventions for this population may focus on improving support systems or working through grief and may include the caregiver.
This week, you consider the value of using a holistic approach with elderly/aging adults and research social work interventions for this population. You also compile and finalize your Practice Toolbox.
