There is benefits to both a bench trial and a jury trial, wither it’s a simple case or a high priority case. Let me give you some examples of both: a high priority case is a case that the police have most if not all of the evidence and the outcome is the death penalty and the cops are racing against the clock just to make sure they are not sending an innocent man/women to death. A simple case could be just a mistaken identity. Now that’s the easy part the hard part is the benefits to them. The benefits to a jury trial is that they could come to a unanimous decision of guilty or innocent but that could take some time. Even a trial by jury can be thrown out because of a shadow of a doubt. The benefit of having a bench trial is that it eliminates the ability to cast a shadow of a doubt on the judge.
