Just like any other capstone project which requires one to pick a subject and research question or problem and engage in a debate, I was able to pick a subject of why the war on drugs failed. The history on drug abuse dates back in the 1800s. This was the time it drugs had plagued American, Mexico and Columbia. In the mid-20th century these prohibited drugs were completely wiped out by the government through suppression agencies of the government worldwide. However, the market changed in 1960s when other readily available drugs in the states strike the market. Examples of these drugs were marijuana, amphetamines and hallucinogens.

            The first federal drug policy passed in the United States was in 1994 and was named Harrison Narcotic act. The policy prohibited manufacturing of drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin and morphine. It was strongly enforced in the states and did not protect any physicians who prescribed marijuana for a medicinal use to a patient. Physicians who were caught with such cases were fined or penalized heavily. More than 5,000 physicians……..
