INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Write an essay that is 2-pages in length a. typed, double-spaced, 12-point font size b. No extra space between paragraphs, simply indent the first line of each paragraph 2. Use only the three sources provided by the instructor and placed on the course website. Use of any other sources are strictly prohibited as an anti-plagiarism strategy. KPU’s policy on academic dishonest will be enforced and any plagiarism or cheating will be reported to the Dean’s office). 3. You may also include relevant observations from the Class Media Project (CMP)

4. provide a cover page that includes a title, your name, the class number and section, the instructor name and the due date – NO PLASTIC FOLDERS PLEASE

RESEARCH PAPER EVALUATION SUMMARY Comprehension: main findings of research are clearly articulated, the purpose, scope and breadth of the analysis is clearly articulated, the thesis is clearly defined, relevant concepts and theories are applied, and ability to provide sociological analysis is clearly demonstrated (maximum of 5 marks) Writing Competence: grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation are used competently, sentences and paragraphs are properly structured, ideas are expressed clearly, explanations are fully-formed, and examples and illustrations are relevant to the idea or subject under discussion (maximum of 5 marks) Organization: the focus of the paper is clearly articulated and laid out, a thesis is presented in the introduction, there is agreement between the introduction and conclusion, the analysis is presented with logical cohesion, and all required parts of the paper are present and in order (maximum of 5 marks) Documentation: the paper adheres to instructions for formatting, ASA or APA method of documentation is used competently, evidence to support arguments is well-grounded in the literature as demonstrated through reference citations, all sources cited are correctly represented in the reference list (maximum of 5 marks) TOTAL MARK ON ASSIGNMENT (MAXIMUM OF 20 MARKS)
