What experiences can be connected to my life today? What is different for women today?

The background of this assignment is

During the the eras of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries to be studied, what have been the common patterns of thought that are observed, regarding gender, that run through the course of history? Is it a surprise that modern American society is still influenced by and still experiences the effects of these beliefs? However, in 2018, these beliefs have been challenged and American public opinion has begun to change refusing to accept or condone the abuses of a male dominated culture. In order to better understand and appreciate the the growing influence of these changes, your task will be to research the experiences of a young woman during one of the various eras our course covers. The era will be your choice from those listed below.

To assist you in deciding which era to investigate, the class will take a brief, general look at women’s history from the Reform Era of the first half of the 19th century through today and discuss the essential questions below. We will review the Reform Era and the Civil War strictly for background and context; these eras will not be included in the project.
